This guide has been compile to give you some ideas of what to do around Singapore. Whilst we do recommend many of the wonderful tours available to you, we know that you would probably also like to find your own way around, so here are a few options:

Sultan Mosque

This Mosque was named after the Sultan of Singapore and was built in 1928. With, glass bottles as the pedestal for the walls and the massive gold dome visible from far away.

This is an important part of Singapore`s cultural landscape. Singapore`s Islamic population comes from a wide area - this is reflected in the street names around the mosque - Muscat, Kandahar and Baghdad Streets - named after prominent cities in the Islamic World. The Sultan Mosque is quite welcoming to visitors. It is open 9am-4pm daily.

China Town

Chinatown is a must visit in Singapore.The buildings were so colourful that make feel vibrant. The Chinatown Heritage Centre is located in Pagoda Street.This is a museum where you will learn all about the history of Chinatown and also how the early Chinese immigrants live in hard lifes. The best part at this gallery is perhaps the Chinese New Year celebrations where you can witness the lion dance which moves and dances by itself .Outside the Heritage Centre,there are plenty of stalls selling souvenirs such as, shirts, shoes and some even food stalls. Chinatown is also a place where Chinese New Year celebrations are celebrated here during the Chinese New Year which is held in February or January, according to the Chinese calendar.

Orchard Road

Most of the country's shopping malls found here... Visit Singapore's biggest bookstore, Kinokuniya, at Takashimaya. For teens clothing/etc, head to Cathay Cineleisure or The Heeren. Shopping: Takashimaya, Paragon, Wisma Atria.

Singapore Botanic Gardens

The Singapore Botanical Gardens is a great place to take a stroll in the mornings and evenings. It is free and stroller / handicap friendly. There is no MRT access though.

Singapore Discovery Centre

The original plan was to build a military history museum here, but then planners began to wonder if maybe the concept wouldn't bring people running. What they came up with instead is fascinating. (courtesy Frommers)

Little India

From Rochor Canal to Lavander Street you can find Little India. Seraggon Road has multitude of shops selling flowers, spices, textile, trinkets and Bollywood videos. you will be really in India, restaurants, shops people and everything is Indian .Everything with many many colour. And a beautiful temple Sri Veerama. Bus: 64, 65, 111, 97 or 85 from Orchard Road.
